Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were contacted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for details.

An important political figure stated the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
